Dave didn't start BDP Trading behind a desk. He started it after thirty years working in the restaurant industry, managing, serving, watching kitchens run and sometimes scramble. He knew better than most what a chef actually needs from a supplier, because he'd been the one waiting on deliveries.
When he crossed over into fresh produce, learning the rhythms of the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market, building ties with local farms, he brought all of that with him. BDP Trading has been running for over 23 years now. It's still a hands-on, personal operation and that's deliberate. Dave sources the produce himself, works with trusted farming partners, and keeps the business small enough to actually know his customers, restaurants, schools, retailers, and a few charities he's quietly supported along the way.
